Charity Shops & Collections Update

We are once again offering free collections of furniture and large donations of other items as our charity shops prepare to open their doors to the public when lockdown restrictions ease on Monday (12th April).

Along with other non-essential retail, our charity shops will re-open on Monday 12th April as England enters the next phase of the government’s roadmap to ease lockdown. We are also taking collection bookings for furniture and larger donations of at least three large bags of other items such as clothing and bric-a-brac.

“We’re really excited to welcome our wonderful customers and supporters back to our charity shops,” said Tracy Dulwich, our Head of Charity Shops.

“Our shops help to generate vital income to help local people to overcome homeless whilst raising awareness of homelessness in and around Southend, so they are an important part of HARP’s work in the local community.”

Our charity shops on Southend High Street, Hamlet Court Road and Leigh Broadway, and our furniture shop on London Road, will be open 9.30am-5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays), from Monday 12th April. We hope to add Saturday opening from the end of April.

Tracy continued: “We rely on donations of items from the local community to raise funds for our work, so we are inviting people in South Essex to book a collection for unwanted furniture and large donations of other items now. Smaller donations can be dropped off at our charity shops during opening hours once we re-open.”
