Volunteer vacancies

Could you spare some time to help local people change their lives for the better?

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation and without them, we couldn’t do what we do. Whether they are assisting in our shops, preparing and serving breakfast or lunch in our Bradbury Day Centre, or supporting HARP residents at one of our hostels, they play an essential role in helping local people overcome homelessness.

Emergency Support Volunteers needed

Do you have previous experience of working or volunteering in the homelessness sector or with other vulnerable groups? Would you like to put your skills and experience to use helping local people to overcome homelessness?

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, we've made changes to the way we deliver our services in order to keep staff, volunteers and the people who use our services safe. This can lead to staff shortages when individuals or teams are required to self-isolate but we still need to provide support to our residents and clients.

We're looking for people with experience of working or volunteering in homelessness, social care, health care or other related sectors to be part of a reserve bank of Emergency Support Volunteers to provide emergency cover for our day service and supported housing in the event that large parts of our existing staff and volunteer team have to self-isolate.

We're hoping we won't need you, but by being available for voluntary emergency cover you would be helping to protect the services we provide for some of Southend's most vulnerable people.

To apply:

  1. Download the Volunteer Role Description here (PDF)

  2. Complete our online Volunteer Enquiry Form

  3. Once we've received your completed form, our Volunteer Coordinator will get in touch to discuss the role in more detail.

Other volunteer roles at HARP

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, we've made changes to the way we deliver services and fundraising activities and received a huge number of volunteer applications alongside the return of some of our existing volunteers following the first lockdown. As a result, we currently have all the volunteers we need in these areas, apart from those listed above.

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering for HARP. In the meantime, you can see the types of roles our volunteers undertake at across HARP's services, shops and fundraising activities below.
