Join HARP's New Virtual Challenge

We are inviting local people to become “HARP Heroes” by taking on our first ever, lockdown friendly, 30-day Virtual Challenge.

We launched the Virtual Challenge after having to cancel fundraising events and close its six charity shops as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

As well as raising vital funds to keep our services for homeless people in Southend running, we hope the challenge will give local people the chance to get fit and beat the boredom of lockdown.

“We are really excited about our first ever Virtual Challenge. Although we launched our Emergency Appeal last month, we know that many people are also missing the challenge and sense of community that training and fundraising for a big charity event gives them,” said Dina Jobson, HARP’s Fundraising Manager.

“Our Virtual Challenge provides people with the chance take on a challenge, keep busy during lockdown, and contribute to the local community from the comfort of home or during their daily exercise outing.”

Challenge participants can choose the activity they will undertake for their 30-day period, pledging to raise £50 towards HARP’s work with local homeless people. The Virtual Challenge is FREE to enter and all participants who raise £50 or more will receive a medal upon completion.

Companies with staff who are working from home, running clubs and social groups can also sign up as a team to help keep members motivated and connected during this period of social distancing.

Dina continued: “We hope this challenge will help us continue to provide life-saving services in Southend, and create a sense of community between participants as they work towards their individual goals for a common cause. We can’t wait to see the town come together in solidarity with local homeless people to make an impact that will last longer than lockdown.”
