New HARP Charity Shop Opens On Southend High Street

We are delighted to announce the opening of our brand new Charity Shop on Southend High Street at 10am on Wednesday 17th July 2019.

The shop, which can be found at 112 High Street (next door to the Halifax bank and opposite Barclays) will raise vital funds to help us provide services for homeless people in the town.

We support over 1,000 people every year who are either homeless or at risk becoming homeless, and the new shop in Southend is the charity’s fifth shop in the local area.

Our Charity Shops Manager, Tracy Dulwich, said:

“Our shops provide an essential contribution to our work tackling homelessness in Southend. So it’s fitting that we now have a shop right on the High Street. It’s not just about raising money, but also engaging the local community in our mission to help people overcome homelessness and make the general public more aware of the issues. When items are donated to our shops, some are sold with the profits supporting our work with homeless people, whilst other items go directly to our day centre and residences to be used by someone in need.”

She continued, “We invite people to donate unwanted clothing and items to help us stock the shop. We also need more volunteers to help keep the new shop running and welcome applications. Whether you donate old clothes, bric-a-brac, or furniture, or give up a few hours a week to help in one of our shops, you will be having a direct impact on homelessness in Southend.”

HARP’s existing shops are based on Hamlet Court Road in Westcliff, Leigh Broadway, and Eastwood Road North, with a shop dedicated to furniture on London Road.
