Changes to HARP service times

After a successful trial period, we are pleased to announce a small change to the services we offer at The Bradbury Day Centre to local homeless people.

To allow us to focus better on our service users' needs, weekday morning sessions are now devoted to helping people currently sleeping rough, from 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday. Services include an improved free breakfast, laundry, showers and free clothing.

From 1pm to 4pm each day, we switch to our homeless prevention service, which helps people who are either sofa surfing, or at risk of becoming homeless. Here, we can advise on the best course of action to avoid homelessness altogether.

The change has so far increased engagement amongst the rough sleeping community in Southend, with our breakfast service seeing a 79% increase in the number of meals served in the three months following the change, compared to same three months last year.

Most importantly, serving more breakfasts means more opportunities for engagement between service users and HARP staff to tackle long-term problems, and ultimately help more local people get off the streets for good.
