Songs for Shelter rocks the Railway again!

Local student Tom Johnson, 19, held a successful charity concert in July raising over £300 for HARP, and he has been at it again! Songs for Shelter 2 was held at the Railway Hotel on Clifftown Road in Southend last week and raised a fantastic £310.

The event was supported by a number of local artists including Rooskin, Humble Slug and The Toe Rags, and even the event’s sound man Martin Little kindly insisted on donating his fee to the cause.

Organiser Tom who is passionate about supporting local homeless people said “it was a fantastic night and just really easy to have a laugh with everyone. A good night was had by all.” Tom has now raised over £600 for HARP who provide ongoing support for rough sleepers in Southend as well as long-term solutions for people overcoming homelessness.

Community Fundraiser Lisa Walton said “events like this are a great display of community camaraderie and a fantastic way to combine the things you love with helping to support local people in need. Tom has done a fantastic job of fundraising for us and is both passionate and proactive about helping HARP to end homelessness in Southend for good!”
