Fitness enthusiasts raise £800 to help local homeless people

Fitness enthusiasts Scott Blackham, Gary Bultitude, and Peter Morcos recently organised a day long fitness festival in partnership with Fusion Lifestyle at Clements Hall Leisure Centre in Hawkwell, raising over £800 for local homeless charity HARP.

The event saw members of the public join in with a variety of fitness classes throughout the day with one 58-year old participant taking on all 7 classes! Dot Hutchings, 58, from Benfleet said “I love the gym and this fundraiser is brilliant! I think it’s really important to do things like this for charity”.

HARP’s Fundraising Manager, Dina Jobson said “events like this are a fantastic way to get the community behind the work we do here at HARP. It was an amazing day brimming with sheer grit and determination and we are so thankful to Gary and the team for all their hard work, not just on the day, but in the months running up to the event too.”

She continued “while there are still people homeless in Southend our job is not done, but fundraising events like this help us get one step closer to ending rough sleeping in Southend for good!”
