Our Spring Walk was a huge success!

While the London Marathon was capturing the hype at the weekend, everyday heroes in Southend were walking the Prittle Brook Greenway to help raise vital funds for HARP the year ahead.

Over 100 kind-hearted people took part in our Spring Walk, which started at Priory Park in Southend, and ended in Belfairs Woodland Centre in Leigh-on-Sea, and all to support us to end rough sleeping in Southend.

At HARP we work with people that are either homeless, or at risk of homelessness, supporting over 1,000 people every year. However, in the current climate of increasing homelessness and deprivation across the UK, we need more support than ever to meet the growing demand.

So far, participants at the Spring Walk have raised over £2,700 and we are hopeful that this number will double over the coming weeks as participants gather sponsorship money from their family and friends.

Lisa Walton, our Community Fundraiser, said “our Spring Walk is more than just a Sunday stroll; it’s a huge display of community spirit and compassion as our participants all walk to show their solidarity and support for local people battling homelessness. We were overwhelmed to see couples, friends, and families all come together to support a cause so close to many people’s hearts. No-one should have to resort to sleeping on the streets, and the money we raise will help us to make that a reality for people in Southend.”
