Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School collect Easter treats for local homeless people.

Children at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Leigh-on-Sea have been collecting chocolate Easter Eggs, juice and coffee for HARP, Southend’s Homeless Charity, showing great compassion to local homeless people over the festive period.

Easter is a time when many families come together, and the youngsters at Our Lady of Lourdes have been working hard to collect a huge pile of goodies for local people who have fallen on hard times.

Lisa Walton, our Community Fundraiser said “Easter is often a fun filled time of year for children as they enjoy egg hunts and chocolate treats; but for HARP’s service users, their focus right now is on overcoming homelessness. That’s why these treats will mean so much to people facing such adversity. Gifts like this really show that people care.”

Lisa continued “The gift of an Easter Egg to someone who is in crisis can be heart-warming gesture and can give a little boost to someone feeling lonely, and we are certain that the juice, bottled water and coffee will be very well received by the people that we support”.
