Greggs Homelessness Awareness Week

Greggs may be known nationally for their pasties, cakes and sandwiches, but this week they are making a really positive impact on local charities and community groups too through their ‘Homelessness Awareness Week’ campaign.

The Greggs Foundation is a grant making charity which improves the quality of life in local communities, distributing around £2.8 million per year to charitable organisations throughout England, Scotland and Wales, and locally, Greggs have been supporting HARP, Southend’s Homeless Charity, for over a decade through the donation of unsold goods each day.

HARP provided over 60,000 meals last year for people facing homelessness and the food donations they receive from Greggs make such a difference; but this week long campaign by The Greggs Foundation will not only be raising awareness of the issue that affects so many people in our local community, but also aims to raise vital funds to help local charities like HARP across the whole of the UK.

A Greggs spokesperson said “last year we raised an amazing £19,224 which helped provide funding for 17 local charities within our communities and this year we are looking to help charities like HARP that offer long-term solutions for homeless people. Greggs ‘Homelessness Awareness Week’ runs from 4th February – 10th February and we will have collection pots in all our stores where our customers can help us to make a difference to local people that are homeless”.
