Funky Voices raise almost £1600 for HARP!

Multi award winning choir, Funky Voices, is the largest modern community choir across Essex and Suffolk with over 800 singers, and they recently held a series of charity concerts, one of which raised nearly £1600 for HARP.

Founded by Musical Director Sandra Colston in 2007, Funky Voices have raised an astounding £380,000 since their launch 10 years ago. Sandra said “for our 10 year anniversary we decided to put on a series of charity concerts across Essex and Suffolk raising funds for local and worthwhile charities and causes. Having looked around the area we came upon HARP and felt drawn to their brilliant work with the homeless in the area, and we wanted to help”.

HARP provide over 170 beds every night for vulnerable people that might otherwise be on the streets, and their aim is to help local people overcome homelessness for good. Donations such as these make a huge difference to their work and allow them to reach out to more people that are either homeless, or at risk of being homeless. Fundraising is the key to providing a more rounded approach to overcoming homelessness by providing food, shelter and all the support necessary to empower individuals to rebuild their lives.

Lisa Walton, Community Fundraiser at HARP said “it was an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to watch Funky Voices in action, they are a fun and vibrant choir and have achieved so much, and we are thrilled to be one of the charities benefitting from their wonderful work. We cannot thank them enough for all their hard work; the money they have raised will make such a difference to local homeless people”
