Young residents get to work

We're exceptionally proud to report that two of our supported housing residents have successfully completed work experience programmes with Prince's Trust, resulting in potential job offers.

In partnership with South Essex College, the 'Get into Hospitality' course provided an comprehensive introduction to a career in the hospitality industry, including topics such as emergency first aid at work, as well as covering teamwork, health & safety, interview skills and CV writing. Both service users were awarded the NVQ Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene certificate.

The course was split between work experience placements at a Southend hotel, as well as classroom time at the College.

Gareth Evans, HARP Meaningful Activities Co-Ordinator said: “Both will potentially be offered jobs as a result of the fantastic effort they put in to the course and work experience placement, and should be really proud of their achievements".

Amy Skinner, HARP Restart Team Leader commented: “You can tell from the photos how happy they are! They’ve done so well”.

Last year, 22% of those helped by HARP were aged 25 and under. We’re particularly focused on ensuring our younger service users can easily access opportunities for work experience and training – assisting them into employment wherever possible.

Through partnerships and collaboration with organisations such as Prince’s Trust and South Essex College, we’re developing a strong network to enable many more young people a path back to independent living.
