COVID-19 Health Crisis: Support HARP's Emergency Appeal

Coronavirus or COVID-19 is proving devastating for many organisations, including HARP, as we are forced to cancel fundraising events, close charity shops, and deliver services with fewer staff and volunteers because of the required social distancing and self-isolation measures.

But those who are rough sleeping, homeless or at risk of homelessness in Southend still need our help!

Can you help us get through the crisis and keep local homeless people safe?

For many people who are homeless or rough sleeping, it is not easy or even possible to follow the same advice as the general public when it comes to coronovirus or COVID-19.

However, those without a home are some of the most vulnerable members of our community, being more likely to have underlying health conditions, which put them at higher risk of severe illness from coronavirus, not having somewhere safe to self-isolate if needed, limited access to hand-washing facilities and possible lack of awareness of coronavirus because of limited access to the news.

All this comes on top of the struggles of being homeless or on the brink of homelessness.

A HARP, we are working hard to ensure that the people who come to us for help and support continue to get the vital services we provide so they can escape or avoid homelessness, as well as giving them the information they need to stay safe in the current health crisis.

We have also set up an emergency Task Force regarding COVID-19 and homelessness in Southend. It involves all the key players across Southend such as Southend Council, NHS, Public Health Services, Probabtion, Police, and other local agencies.

We need to work together as a community to stay as safe as possible. However, we cannot do this without your help.

Your donation will help provide food, shelter and support for local homeless people in and around Southend.

Please give generously to help the most vulnerable at this time of need.

Together we can overcome this crisis!

Thank you for your support.
