Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week​

HARP is a Southend-on-Sea charity working to prevent homelessness and help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives. Each day our staff works with individuals to tackle the underlying causes of homelessness, such as poor mental health or drug and alcohol dependency. From supporting people in crisis to helping them take the final steps towards independence and employment, we make a difference to 1200 lives every year.

We are looking to recruit to our busy day centre in the centre of the town, which is often the first port of call for anyone homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our Bradbury Centre offers the following services:

• Access to outreach support and emergency accommodation
• Reconnection support
• Private Rented Sector approved partners
• Access to homeless healthcare
• Free food, shower and washing facilities
• Clean clothing and laundry facilities
• Signposting to other agencies
• Referral to statutory services
• Support with submissions for Homeless Applications, Housing Applications, Universal Credit including brokerage for delays and sanctions
• Support and advice to entrenched rough sleepers to find a new way to live away from the streets.


• Support for people with complex and multiple needs, including substance misuse and mental health problems.


To be considered for this role, you will need the demonstrable ability to work within a highly effective, person-centred day centre service for clients, some with complex needs.

Organised, adaptable, and an excellent communicator, you will be enthusiastic about working in a psychologically informed environment, and creative in your approach to service delivery. You are resilient in and motivated by, a constantly changing and busy environment. Experience in customer care is essential.
