Meaningful Activities

At HARP, an important part of helping our clients on their journey away from homelessness is provided by our Meaningful Activities program.

These sessions cover a wide variety of subjects, from art classes to gardening, from social clubs to tenancy sustainment courses.

At the Bradbury Day Centre, we regularly host an art class for our service users. Activities like this help our service users learn new skills, and provide respite and a chance to switch off. They also boost self-esteem and confidence, which in turn help people take vital steps towards overcoming homelessness for good!

"I really like the cooking club. I have met so many nice friends."

One of our regular activities is a Social Club at our Bradbury Day Centre, every Wednesday evening. At this club, residents have the opportunity to socialise, learn new skills and teach each other new skills in the kitchen.

Gardening

HARP also host a gardening club in conjunction with the Southend council.

Groups like this help our service users learn how to take care of a garden and grow different produce. The skills learnt in this class help our clients learn how to take care of a garden so they can take care of their own property once they eventually move on to live independently. It also offers skills that can be used to gain a future career.
