An exciting opportunity has arisen in our delivery team. You will be responsible for things such as ensuring that all arranged collections and deliveries are fulfilled with care, efficiency, co-operation and excellent customer service. Collect donated goods, including heavy items of furniture, from the homes of members of the public, and deliver to HARP’s various charity shop locations in Southend following HARP’s procedures and delivering purchased items of furniture to customers’ homes following HARP’s procedures.
The main purpose of the job:

Driving the HARP shop van and collecting and delivering goods, both from donors’ homes and between our current network of four Charity Shops.

Ensuring safe working practices are observed when lifting and carrying heavy items.

Liaising with donors and customers regarding collections and deliveries, providing an excellent quality of service to help ensure repeat custom, and completing paperwork as required.
The ideal candidate will:

Have experience of driving a medium-sized van (Luton or equivalent) and hitting collection and delivery deadlines.

Have a full clean driving license permitting the driving of Category B vehicles.

Be able to lift and move heavy loads as part of a two-person team throughout the working week.

Be flexible and able to go above and beyond to achieve results, including the ability to work weekends.

Have empathy and understanding for homeless people.
